The proposal rethinks the existing patios of the Santa Fe Hermitage to enhance their accessibility while preserving their original state. Commissioned by the National Institute of History and Anthropology, the project aims to create a sensitive intervention that is deeply connected to the site's historical context. The goal is to respect the integrity of these spaces while ensuring they remain functional and open to the public.

A key aspect of the development is the thoughtful use of stone in various formats. The stone pieces were carefully selected and placed to honor the quiet strength of the patios, allowing the material to seamlessly integrate into the existing landscape without overpowering it. The placement of each stone is deliberate, maintaining the serene atmosphere of the space while subtly enhancing its accessibility.
This intervention seeks to balance modern needs with historical preservation, creating a pathway that respects the heritage of the Santa Fe Hermitage while ensuring that the beauty and historical significance of the site remain at the forefront. The strategic use of stone not only contributes to the aesthetic value of the project but also strengthens its connection to the natural and architectural environment.
By choosing materials that resonate with the historical essence of the site, the design allows for a tactile experience that is both respectful and enriching. It transforms the patios into spaces that are not only more accessible but also more meaningful, inviting visitors to engage with the history and heritage of the Santa Fe Hermitage in a respectful and immersive way.
Taller Mauricio Rocha was commissioned to develop this work and invited Annik Keoseyan to collaborate on directing the project:
